Game break 2

Time for yet another instalment of wasting time 101 with games.

Ok so I bet a lot of you have played this game at one point or another but my god its just so fantastic it requires mentioning.
Motherload

In this crazy addicting game you drill, and you drill a lot. the ultimate goal of the game is to make it rich and maybe fight off the ultimate evil. get the shiny gems for cash and avoid the red lava pockets we've all done it before and yet never quite to the same effectiveness as in motherload. so the next time your bored and feel like making some serious cash motherload is well worth you time.

Heli attack 
This one is straight out of my childhood, (so many hours of productivity wasted).
Ok so take shooting, then put in some helicopters, and then add a dash of crazy weapons then bake for 2 hours at 350degrees. then you have a fresh batch of heli attack.

There ya have it another two games for you to play inbetween wanking sesh's

Ok so I know I Haven't talked about thatguywiththeglasses.com on this blog, but some of you more resourceful(or bored) readers may have checked out my links to "awesome sitez" at the bottom of this blog.
If you haven't then let me put it this way.... TGWTG is a collection of video bloggers who do everything from movie reviews to comic books....And games too.
(They tried to launch a Tv channel called channel awesome! ( and It may have a half life in the realm of google tv.... but  more of that another time))
needless to  say the site is awesome and I just recently discovered a new section.
Soooo I though I would share.

Welcome to yet another addition of music mondays, so lets just jump right in then.

Today we will be featuring those garage rock groups....you know the ones that you listened to when your body was all full up on hormones and all you wanted to do was punch something. (girls you where being scheming bitches at this point)So just to take you back to a time when hair was growing from everywhere and the world seemed out to get ya
we have the rock and roll soldiers.

If there is one downside to the rock and roll soldiers its that every song suffers from that same garage band wall of sound ...sound.I find it really hard to listen an album comprised completely of R&R soldiers but they are a solid group and should have a home somewhere on a playlist.

Now we all had a phase of loving these whiny rockers who only seem capable of make a song about how a women left, or about getting into fights.... but for different reasons it all spoke to us at one point or another.
Some of you may still be listing to these tracks when the lights are off and you think your alone and  no one can hear you..... well Ive got news for ya....I can hear you.

I would like to start by presenting a Utau wiki (if you dont remember or didn't catch my first post Utau are vocaloid counter parts generally with user illustrated avatars and user created voice banks, and they're stated goal is to kill a corporate vocaloid)

 yes hatsune miku has her own dance program/software.
its called miku miku dance and  I believe its available for free to download the reason this is a big deal is that i believe it only recently came out in english...I haven't had time to mess around on it (due to slow internet speeds) but expect after I get home for another blog post on if this is worth checking out .

finally Vocaloid^3 has been announced. The wiki page reads -Vocaloid 3 has been confirmed, and is said to be aimed to be Yamaha's most "realistic voice engine yet. Preparations are being made for the launch of the software, and release is expected in the near future. Ive also found some bloggers that have done a little more research into the topic then I have vocaloid 3

For todays musical dose Ive got a few new/old (new to you ,old to me ) techno beats.

First up we have factory by cornsandbeans which was used for a(you guessed it)factory lvl in the game castle crashers

(castle crashers is a sweet xbox live arcade game where you as a knight embark on an epic quest to save the land from a dude that stole a flying cyrstal)

Next we have _Eve by _nBiz I found this in a boss battle for a game that was testing out how well you could match music and gaming

So sorry folks that I missed yesterdays dose but fiver words mate's
CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS
but ive got a big review of its multiplayer today :)

So after ten to fifteen hours of game play in the past thirty hours I think I can give all you the low down.

First off let me say this game is F-ing beautiful. Its baffling how much videogame graphics have and continue to improve,The water has accurate reflections, the dirt remains scar'ed by explosions,and glass shatters almost realistically.

Maps in this game are expansive to say the least. in an attempt to cut camping treyarch has done extensive map testing and claims that camping has now been negated,
I would disagree.
As long as we have corners in games there will be camper's that sit there shotgun at the ready, but on the whole it has been severely reduced.(well the game has only been out for two days so time will tell)

 With the addition of CD (call of duty dollars) a much more streamlined online experience is available to players, no longer do you have to grind through five or six lvls for that new sniper rife. Just save up those greenbacks and boom its yours.
also a huge amount of customization has been added,there is about five or six attachments per gun,and eight or nine guns per class(smg,lmg,sniper,assault,shotgun) ,and about twelve camos from which to pick. needless to say making your class is now an in depth experience.Then when ya add in  the almost limitless abouts of personal emblems/nametags your gonna be one happy camper(no pun intended)
O almost forgot about your ability to etch your personal clan tag and emblem on to your guns.
yea thats fun >.<

The game still has all of the classic game types (i.e. death match, ground war, domination) but add the new game types like wager match and the fun really begins. Wager mode is (like it sounds) a lobby where you can risk your CD for a large pay out if you can finish in the top three. This add's a sense of urgency that I find extremely enjoyable.
A few of these game modes below.

One in the chamber- in this game mode you have a pistol, three lives, and one shot.( sound fun ? it is !)Shoot someone and your rewarded with their bullet, miss and you better pray you can knife'um.

Gun Game- in this game mode you must progress through 20 levels of weapons. You go up a lvl for every kill (this means get a kill with a pistol then you have a shotgun,so on and so on)and down a lvl everytime you are knifed.It all culminates in the  final kill being a balistics knife.....ugfh such a pain >.<

Sticks and stones-use your crossbow to kill mofos for points but watch out for them tomahawks cause they'll bankrupt your sorry ass.

Now Ive gotta point out a flaw...and its a pretty fucking big one, you need a pipe (internet pipe) the size of fucking siam to play this game without lag .... also the lobby systems for wager matches is horrible, treyarch either needs to release a patch or ive gotta get some more bandwidth!
but that said

Over all its a great game *****/***** on the Dom scale of excellence. If your on the fence about this game buy it! Its tons of fun and Will destroy any life you had before you bought it! also feel free to friend me on live with  _Dom on the request @(The Birninator)

Todays music monday features audioslave,a hard rock "super"group that consisted of then former front man of soundgarden Chris Cornell,and former lead guitarist of rage against the machine Tom Morello.The group formed in 2001 and by there second album people began to take notice.
After three successful albums and three grammy nominations front man Chris Cornell released a statement in 2007 that the group would officially disband  due to personal conflict and musical differences,But while it lasted the emotional four octave range of Cornell, and the exquisite guitar work by Morello was pure bliss.

(warning Tom morello's solos might melt your brain.....in a good way)

You might notice that I have added a Ustream window to the bottom of the blog, this will be your link to MOGRA.

Mogra is a small dance club based in akihabara thats streamed  live over the web so dorky club rats such as myself can hang out virtually and chat about japan, anime, and music. (in the room im melange9)Mogra routinely broadcasts on fridays and weekends at about 7am our time till about noon,also it sometimes holds special events such as vocaloid release partys.

Recently Mogra  just celebrated there second successful year of operation,the party was two days of nonstop music and dancing (<3 Best of luck Tenchou!)

Black Rock Shooter

Todays dose we have a little thing called Black Rock Shooter,

The phenomenon started out when an artist by the name of huke posted an illustration on his blog titled black rock shooter in december of 2007.The illustration inspired Ryo of the band -supercell (the band that first used and popularized  Hatsune Miku)to write a song of the same name on their album.With the help of artist huke the  black rock shooter music video became wildly popular among vocaloid,and anime fans alike...but they wanted something more,more then a 5 minute music video.In July of 2010 the black rock shooter OVA(original video animation) was released. This 50 minute anime movie helped to expand the black rock shooter universe for its numerous fans. The animation focuses on the life of two junior high girls who become friends... while at the same time, an alternate story following the BRS character is also presented.

(*for any of you non anime fans out there roughly translated im saying ...depressed junior highschool girls blossoming friendship with slight lesbian undertones/ hardcore goth bitches with massive guns and skull minions.... If that sounds intriguing...ya might want to check it out>videos below<)

The reaction to just one single drawing has be astronomical figurines,music,an ova and there is also rumblings of a black rock shooter RPG game coming out on sony japan network.... anyways i get what its all about and hope thanks to this post you have a better idea of what drives those robot/ computer gods in japan crazy.

I was gonna save this dose for a monday as it pertains to music but I discovered  a few vid's so i pushed it forward.


So todays dose is about vocaloid's >.< YAY
A vocaloid is a singing synthesizer software financially backed by the Yamaha corporation. (those guys that make guitars)The software enables users to synthesize singing by typing in lyrics and melody then a  piano interface is used so melody and the lyrics can be entered on to each note. The software can also change the stress of the pronunciations, add effects such as vibrato, or change the dynamics and tone of the voice.


 Each Vocaloid is sold as "a singer in a box." One of the more successful editions of this vocaloid software is Hatsune miku who's got the same star power in some countrys as a Diva.... now you must be thinking to yourself "an animated piece of software has a huge world following? ...wow!?" But the software couldnt have found a better marketplace... you guessed it japan!

(yes there is a sub-sect of vocaloids called UTAU and they are generaly user based sound banks with user created characters and most of the time those characters stated goal is to kill and takeover their corporate counter part)

As you will see most of Tei's tracks have a hard rock/tecno feel to them, rather then a melodic or pop-ish sound of other official vocaloids.

Music Monday (2)

Time for our second installment of music mondays

First we have the band -just a band , "a kenyan somewhat experimental,DIY,geeky boy band" as they put it
The band came together on february 7th 2003 when bill's van ran over dan's foot thus allowing them to meet.then it turns out that the van has a spirit trapped in it that loves funk music....and something about a crater.... i'll just let them tell you,

Just a bands sweet sweet electro beats and cool makmende style makes a nice mix to listen to in the car,on your bike, or in your house, where ever good times are had,there's just a band !

Next ive just got some sweet anime intro's
I know,I know, they arn't really artist's that you can go to itunes and download but i find myself listening to these intros and outro's all the time so that's enough of a reason for me to put them up here on a music monday.

m0ar!!!!

As the title rightly implies todays dose is about the site m0ar.org

m0ar Is a site of mostly funny random flash videos from around the net. The site also employs a endlessyoutube-esk funtion.
currently the site contains over 5,000 videos. and with the easy upload features and user generated content that number is only gonna go up.
Really the easiest way to understand the site is to take about five minutes and try it out.
**(warning may lead to endless hours of net surfing)**

Rise of the keytar

So folks I apologize  for missing yesterdays dose but I swear it was for a good reason!

Rock Band  3!!!!!!!

This game is fantastic,it is a testament to EA devotion to polished gameplay, Downloadable content, and solid set-lists. As you well know multiple new editions of the guitar hero franchise has been released  since rock band 2 and lets just say they cant even hold a candle to RB3.

To start out, just for  preordering rb3 you get three free songs to download, burning down the house-Talking Heads ,my own summer-Deftones ,and blue monday-New Order. Then the game itself comes with three free Doors tracks light my fire, ride on the storm,and touch me.
 Already we are packing six free songs !!!

Next RB3 features a new peripheral (thats a shine word for a new piece of plastic you have to buy) the keyboard , And let me be the first to tell you that it is freaking awesome to jam out on some of your favorite tunes with a keytar !!

Finally RB3 features the addition of pro mode. It enables symbols on the drums, utilizes all of the keys on the keyboard and when the new guitar is released it will function as just that a real guitar. Needlessto say  I know what im asking for this christmas!

Now enough kissing ass there where some problems with this product as well.
The main web page and therefor all of the forums where down for most of today(launch day) so when everyone ran into problems connecting with the rock band networks for getting all that free dlc people had to think quick and start new forums on sites like gamestop and lets us all know that ya gotta sit on the start menu for about five minutes before you can connect to them. Also for everyone who was excited to get their  rockband two DLC (dowloadable content) on to RB3 your shit out of luck folks .Rockband hasn't  released a reason as to why but so far transferring your dlc won't work.(my guess is sever  issue's, give it a few days)

But all that being said this is a fantastic game that destroyed my productive day and it can do the same for you
(presuming your not under the snare of fallout new-vega's )

Music Mondays (1)

Todays dose is the first
music monday!
 (or mu-mo for short) is a weekly posting of some musical artists that you should check out.
easy as that


Alright starting out in our one slot is emancipator.
emancipator's first album _soon it will be cold enough  was self released in 2006 and grew a rather large world following. (for self released elctronica) soon the album was picked up by "super producer" nujabe's. the album sold 5,000  copies in japan the year following year , emancipator  was also featured in the beijing olympics and played bonnaroo in 2009

emacipator ranges from electronica



to an almost folk sound with soothing guitar


regardless of what you enjoy,emancipator's got something for you to  love. and with the cold steely weather looming on the horizon,I cant think of a better album to curl up with and fall asleep
(-soon it will be cold enough to build fires)


Next we have Nujabes or Jun Seba
as someone put it "nujabes is the elevator music you would hear while ascending to heaven."



Nuff said


Nujabes was taken from us this past february in a car accident ... R.I.P.
there are rumors that Hydeout Productions will release his final tracks he left behind some time soon (expect and update as more info arises)

Finaly we have plaid a london electro group *you may have to go down in the comments a turn off another persons player*(stupid myspace)
these guys do fantastic OST,
 particularly for tekkon kinkret

Plaids calm and soothing melody's are always good to chill out too!

Japan

*a warning this posting is not for the feint of heart(aka people who have trouble with half naked anime girls....sry its just part of life)

Last night at about 3 am  I came across this awesome site about culture in japan..... I then proceeded to waste about three hours looking at the beautiful photographs.
The blog /web page  is done by a man named danny choo, who was the sr. website manager for amazon jp from 2001 to 04 then he moved on to be a project manager for microsoft. he is currently working with  a company named mirai which seems to have something to do with  pop-culture. Anyways enough with the stats...time for the pic's !!
